Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance Saturday since revealing she'd undergone an elective preventative surgery to have her reproductive organs removed, and it was pretty major.
The actress, director, humanitarian and all-around beautiful person took to the stage at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards to accept the honor of Best Villain for her portrayal of the title character in last year's Sleeping Beauty spinoff, Maleficent. But there was no surprise green slime—as is customary on the awards show—to be seen.
Instead, Jolie—accompanied by her two kids Shiloh and Zahara who were in the audience—used her platform to make a powerful and inspiring speech about fitting in as a child—and more importantly, not fitting in: "[I] felt out of place—too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in. And then one day, I realized something—something that I hope you all realize. Different is good. When someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up and be proud."
