Carey Mulligan Gives Birth to Literal Mumford Daughter, Announces a Perfect Name

Bye bye maternity Balenciaga.

Clothing, Trousers, Shirt, Textile, Outerwear, Standing, Collar, Pattern, Style, Plaid,

Update. 10/13: Stop holding your breaths—Mulligan and Mumford *finally* revealed their baby's name and gender: Evelyn. All the mysteries surrounding the mini Mumford have been solved and now we can resume our daily lives. Phew.

Update, 10/7: After the customary nine-month gestational period—the last "traditional" thing he'll ever do—Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford's farm-fresh infant arrived via hand-woven vintage picnic hamper alongside a jar of small-batch pickled rutabaga.

E! News reports Mulligan gave birth "to a healthy and happy baby" in September, but the gender and name are still unknown. Excellent. We'll take that as license to imagine little sweater-clad Orin Gooseberry being brought up on sprouted seed bread, indie-pop-ified folk tunes, and wry British wit. What a life.

Original story, 6/8: To their collection of various farm animals, woolly jumpers, and mason jars, Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford will add another cozy hipster treasure: a wee, farm-animal-raising, woolly-jumper-wearing, half-English baby.

According to Us Weekly, the Great Gatsby actress and Tony Award winner is already midway through her pregnancy, though you couldn't tell from all the purposefully loose Lanvin and Balenciaga she's been wearing on the red-carpet circuit lately. "They weren't planning on announcing, but she hasn't stopped working," the source said. "Everybody around her is being very supportive. The show ends soon and they're going back to England after."

Congratulations, young family. May your Wellies always be dry and your homemade artisanal jam sweet.
