The Runways Have Spoken: Cool Blue Is the Neutral Color Trend to Know in 2026
Make room in your closet for the sophisticated shade.
While it’s true that many of 2026’s coveted color trends are highly saturated and quite noisy, there are other shades popping up that exist on the more subtle end of the spectrum. Most notably? Cool blue.
Resembling the icy tone of a frigid glacier, this serene hue emerged across several Spring 2026 designer collections, signaling a major rise in popularity. Simone Rocha showcased the frosty color on a delicate chiffon frock decorated with floral details and polished pearl embellishments. Victoria Beckham also opted for an elegant approach with an embroidered midi dress trimmed in lace. Tibi, on the other hand, played into a laid-back vibe, styling a baby blue turtleneck with wide-leg jeans and sequined flip-flops.
On Simone Rocha's Spring 2026 runway, cool blue took center stage.
Cool blue also made its way into Pre-Fall lineups. A quick glimpse at the collections of Veronica Beard, Ulla Johnson, and Carolina Herrera reveal that the ascendant neutral is poised to prevail throughout the year. Customers are picking up on it, too: On Pinterest, searches for the term “cool blue” have increased by 85 percent in comparison to last year.
Inspired to incorporate cool blue into my own capsule wardrobe, I treated myself to a little shopping spree. As it turns out, the fashion market is filled with pieces in the shade across every category. While roaming around Aritzia’s newest Manhattan flagship, I spotted it on a dreamy cashmere cardigan, and you better believe I snagged it immediately.
Here I am in Aritzia's dressing room, wearing the label's Bare Cashmere Crew Cardigan.
