Few things give me the heebie-jeebies quite like the thought of tiny insects crawling over me while I sleep, so you can imagine my reaction when Atlanta-based pest control company Orkin released its "Top 50 Bed Bug Cities" list. My city made the cut, and chances are you live in one of them, too.
Orkin based the list on data from the areas where they performed the most treatments between December 2016 and November 2017. Among some of the more surprising results? Despite all those hotels (typically a bed bug breeding ground), Orlando was bumped from the list entirely, and New York City fell four spots.
But sorry, Baltimore—Realtor.com deemed you the "bed bug capital of the U.S." after coming in at number one on the list three years in a row. Here are the other metro cities that ended up making this year's top ten:
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Washington, D.C.
- Chicago, Illinois
- Los Angeles, California
- Columbus, Ohio
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Detroit, Michigan
- New York, New York
- San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, California
- Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
