Secret Weapons for Healthy Summer Hair

I love summer. However, with every trip to the beach, dip in a chlorine-filled pool, and day of sunbathing (with SPF, of course!), my freshly ombred hair suffers. But this season, I don't have to sacrifice my tresses. Instead of running for cover all summer long, and depriving myself of some of my favorite activities, I turn to these hair saviors.

Summer Shine Control

When it comes to my face, an oily complexion is my main concern. Plagued by acne and well, an embarrassingly shiny forehead, I spent years searching for the perfect oily skin regimen. I've finally found it, and it involves these winning products.

The Intern Dress Confusion

Each summer, a medley of interns prance into my office. They bring with them fresh ideas and a younger vibe, which I love. But I also see some of them in cotton dresses and gauzy skirts — clothes that may be trendy and cute on campus, but don't translate so well into the corporate world.

The Scent of Sunday

The only thing better than a Sunday is a summer Sunday. The New York Times and an iced latte. Cotton pajamas and fresh-cut grass. Open windows and a warm breeze. The promise of one more day before the workweek begins. I'm not sure how Ineke did it, but the San Francisco-based boutique perfumer has managed to bottle the best day of the week.

What to Wear to a Summer BBQ

Summer is officially here, and as California girls, we don't need an excuse to throw a get-together with grilled grub and refreshing cocktails. To accompany you to your all-American backyard bash, we present six must-haves. Just don't forget the sunscreen!

Go for the Gold!

With the Summer Olympics a few weeks away, my competitive nature is in full-gear, and I'm hoping for all golds for my team. In its honor, I've gathered my favorite medal-worthy beauty products to boost your spirits.

My New Favorite Eyeshadows

I have a confession to make: I am an eyeshadow junkie! Whether it is powder, cream, matte, glitter, or pigment, I've got it in just about every shade. I love to waste an hour (or five) creating and blending together different options, and even if I am just popping out to the shop, it's pretty much guaranteed that my lids won't be naked.

Repeating Outfits: A Fashion Challenge

There's so much I love about the Duchess of Cambridge, but possibly my favorite thing (or at least one of the top three) is the way she repeats outfits. For an appearance with the Queen, she wore a blue coat that she'd previously donned two months earlier. In May, she chose the same pink Emilia Wickstead dress for two events only 11 days apart.

Got Acne? Try Apple Cider Vinegar.

June is Acne Awareness Month, which might normally prompt me to trot out a roundup of blemish-busting products. But while topicals have their place, years of interviewing skincare experts, polling readers, and test-driving zit-zappers has lead me to realize acne is best treated from the inside out.

Trend to Try: Color-Blocked Nails

When it comes to experimenting with trends, translating them onto your nails is the best (and probably cheapest) way to get your fashion fix. From polka dots to stripes, there is no limit to nail art. Right now, I'm crazy for color-blocking. Spotted at Phillip Lim, Elie Saab, and Diane von Furstenberg, there was no shortage of fun shade combinations on the fall runways.

Trend We're Crazy Over: Neon

It might be time to retire those monochromatic shades, and turn to something a bit more bright. Pops of neon are in full effect this summer, from blazing satchels to glowing nails, and we are totally gaga for the trend!

A Jolt of Java

I live for coffee. Iced, flavored, steaming hot — I'll take it any way, any time of day. Recent studies suggest that drinking between two and three cups of java a day may prevent basal cell carcinoma (the most common type of skin cancer), which got me thinking: What other benefits does a cup of joe have?

Coral Lipsticks That Pack a Punch

During the day, I am a nude lip lover. Whether it is a peachy-tan shade or a subtle pink, I rarely venture far away from muted hues. That is, until the sun starts to shine! Something about glorious, summery days has me reaching for bold colors, and this year, I'm especially into coral tones.

My Desk Is My Second Closet

Last week, I introduced you to my closet at home, but I have another collection at work. Besides all the beauty products I keep in and around my desk, I also have two emergency pairs of shoes — one brown and one black, so most outfits are covered no matter what. Coworkers have scoffed at my work shoe collection, but a broken flip-flop incident during college that meant I had to ride the bus home in shoeless shame scarred me for life. <

Mastering the Messy Top Knot

I've been wearing a lot of top knots lately. Between the hair-defying humidity and my tendency to oversleep after sipping rosé on some rooftop deck, they're the perfect summer solution — the ponytail's casual, sexier cousin, if you will. And while it's impossible to mess up a top knot—that's the whole point—Matt Fugate of Sally Hershberger shared his no-fuss tips to achieving summer's hottest bun. Bonus: This style works on wet or dry hair.

Multi-Purpose Summer Beauty Products

When it comes to protecting myself from the summer sun, I don't play around! The sun's rays can cause skin aging and worst of all, skin cancer, so needless to say, it's important to shield yourself all year-round. To keep my skin safe, I've fallen in love with these four products. In addition to sunscreen, I apply them daily.

It's a Brow Thing

As a teen, my thick eyebrows seemed like more of a beauty curse than a beauty blessing. Taking matters into my own hands, I hacked away at them, the results of which were uneven, tadpole–like things on my face. My mom was less than pleased.

All About: Body Oils

No longer the dreaded mess just for babies' bottoms, body oils are a luxury that should be part of your moisturizing routine. These oils aid in keeping skin soft, supple and glowing whilst providing a moment of relaxation during hectic days. I recently made the transition from lotion to oil, and I haven't looked back a day since! From multipurpose to skin-firming, there's one out there that will convince you to leave lotion behind.

How I Organize My Closet

It might look slightly unkempt and packed from ceiling to floor, but it's also my happy place. My closet: the place where I stand for way too long each morning debating what to wear.
