10 Spiked Cider Recipes That Will Make the Most of Apple-Picking Season

There may be only one thing more satisfying than apple cider in autumn: spiked apple cider. All those orchards are fodder for some serious boozy splendor, which is why we've searched for some of the best apple cider drinks to mull at home (preferably by the fire, preferably in pajamas). Ahead, the best and most indulgent, whether you want to sip on a butter bourbon drink or a spiced cider Moscow mule.

Blushing Fancy

Ingredients:

6 oz. Stella Artois Cidre

1 oz. Ginger Beer

Grenadine

Lemon Zest and Cherry, for garnish

Directions:

Add a few ice cubes to an 8 oz. Collins glass. Pour 6 oz. of Stella Artois Cidre and 1 oz. of ginger beer into glass, gently stir. Add a splash of grenadine, garnish with a cherry and lemon zest.

Hot Honey Cider

Ingredients:

2 oz. Jack Daniel's Winter Jack Tennessee Cider

1 oz. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey

1 oz. Warm Tea

Directions:

Combine ingredients into glass or mug and garnish with lemon wedges.

Cozy at the Orchard

Ingredients:

4 oz. Angry Orchard Crisp Apple

1.5 oz. Brown Butter Washed Bourbon**

0.5 oz. Cinnamon Syrup***

0.25 oz. Lemon Juice

Directions:

Add all ingredients in a pot and heat until warm. Do not boil. When warmed, add to toddy glass and garnish with grated nutmeg.

**Warm a pan over medium high heat. Add 1 stick of butter and allow to melt. Cook until slightly browned. Pour 750 ml of bourbon into a quart sized container. Add browned butter to the whiskey. Cover mixture and place in the freezer overnight or until butter separates and becomes hard. Strain mixture through a fine strainer. Pour back into original bottle and store in the fridge.

***Add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 5 cinnamon sticks to a pot and bring to a boil. Allow to simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Remove cinnamon sticks with the slotted spoon.

Cider Spiced Toddy

Ingredients:

3 12-oz. bottles Stella Artois Cidre

Rind of 1 Tangerine, cleaned of white pith

2 1-oz. discs Fresh Ginger Root

1 Tbsp. Jamaican Allspice

1 cup Candied Butternut Squash**

3 Oregano Stems and 4-5 Medium-Sized Sage Leaves

·2 tablespoons dark brown sugar (Optional: 2 tablespoons more if preferred sweeter)

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a medium to large saucepan. Cook over medium high heat for 20 minutes, reduce to low heat and simmer for up to 4 hours removing bouquet garnish no more than an hour after reducing heat.

**Combine 4 Tbsp. of dark brown sugar, 2 Tbsp. of dark amber maple syrup, 2 Tbsp. of coconut sugar, and the juice of two oranges in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar has dissolved and liquid has reduced by one third. Stir in approximately ½ a pound of diced butternut squash and stir, coating the squash until al dente. Lightly dust squash w/ Jamaican allspice. Spread over a cookie sheet to cool until ready to use.

Spiced Apple Cider Mule

Ingredients:

1 1/2oz. Cazadores Reposado

1 tsp. Spiced Apple Cider Powder

1 Lemon or Apple Wedge, for garnish

Ginger Beer

Pinch Nutmeg 

Directions:

In a mixing glass combine the first three ingredients with ice, shake, and serve over the rocks. Top with ginger beer and sprinkle with nutmeg. Garnish with lemon and mint.

Honey Apple Cider

Ingredients:

1.5 oz. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey

4 oz. Hot Apple Cider

Directions:

Pour Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey and hot cider into mug or glass. Garnish with a lemon twist (optional).

Agave Cider

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz. Tequila Cazadores Reposado

1/2 oz. Perfect Puree Green Apple

1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice                       

1/2 oz. Simple Syrup

2 oz. Apple Cider

Dash of Nutmeg Powder

Directions:

In a mixing glass combine all the ingredients with ice except the apple cider. Shake and serve over the rocks, then top with cider. Serve in a collins glass. Garnish with an apple slice and ginger.

1.5 oz. Old Forester Bourbon

0.5 oz. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire

4 oz. Sparking Apple Cider

Directions:

Combine all ingredients over ice and garnish with lemon.

Berry Hot Cider

Ingredients:

1 12-oz. Bottle of Stella Artois Cidre

¼ tsp. Vanilla Extract

¼ tsp. Ground Cinnamon

¼ tsp. Ground Nutmeg

1 ½ oz. Fresh Raspberries

1 Tbsp. Dark Brown Sugar

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a medium sized saucepan and cook over medium high heat for 5 minutes and lower temp to lowest setting, then let simmer for up to 20 minutes. Strain mixture through doubled-over cheesecloth or strain two times through a fine mesh strainer. Ladle into your favorite decorative hot beverage mug and garnish with fresh raspberries.

Ingredients:

4 oz. Angry Orchard Crisp Apple

1 oz. Apple Brandy

0.5 oz. Maple Syrup

0.5 oz. Lemon Juice

5-6 Sage Leaves

Directions:

Add apple brandy, maple syrup, lemon juice, and sage leaves to shaker. Fine strain into rocks glass with ice. Top cocktail with Angry Orchard Crisp Apple. Garnish with lemon wheel and sage leaf.
