I think you're doing a great time extenuating your eyes which is one of your best features. They're so big and you're line of eye liner on top is really making them pop.
We've chosen Aimee Wexler as our resident beauty shrink because she's really unique in terms of her qualification. She is the country's only female dermatologist and psychiatrist.
And while I primarily practice dermatology, I use the psychiatry with every patient that I see.
So Jen, I was noticing your whole look into your appearance is very youthful. It's very cute and young. You're welcome. Is that the look that you're going for?
Actually I feel like my look is getting a little plain and boring and I kinda wanna unleash my mysterious side of a little bit more of fun and party look.
And she comes-- someone's appearance. With medical knowledge, I mean maybe they have spots so they've got break outs. So she can understand biologically or chemically why that's happening. But she also understands the emotional importance of how we look and the psychological significance of feeling that you look great.
I'm always thinking I've been looking at my-- like mirror, I've been looking at my face, you know, like the acne part or the acne scars. It's always this been like a really hard thing like growing up in high school is just having that cane like problem and wanting to hide and check using like all these like ridiculous amount of foundation just to like cover it up. So the acne seems one of those conditions that really effects the way people feel about themselves and their self esteem. So I spent a long time talking about how the acne is making the person feel. You could tell by their body language. Their hair is in kind of their face. They're little bit slumped over. And it's great to see them get better because standing up straight and more confident than going out more. Work is better. Sleep is better. Mood is better
I think what's really interesting about this column is that when Dr. Wexler first looks at these pictures, we basically send her photos and it's this 1st impression and we're communicating to our readers what this type of 1st impression gives to other people.
Looking at a photo is challenging. It's really hard. It feels sometimes like I'm trying to be a mind reader but what I do is I look at the photo and I'll make a quick judgment and I'll drop down what I think giving the readers a little glimpse into how I work in my office. Seems really true with a lot of people.
It gives her unique perspective which we're trilled to have in the magazine. Indulge your skin with exotic oils and cream and unleash your mysterious side. Discover Caress Exotic Oil Infusions Body Wash.
Being the culture page is one of the best drops of the magazine 'cause you get to do all of the things that you do in your life anywhere. Like watch movies, watch television, read books, go on websites, download music. But you get paid for it.
For us, it's filtering of all what's available out and out there in the culture. So it's television. It's movies. It's music. It's a well of options that we filter down through our little funnel.
Okay. So let's talk about what we've got coming up in the winter issues. Let's talk about somebody's ideas we've got. I wanna hear about Kate Nash.
The culture pages is really important to the magazine because readers tell us that they have very limited spare time. I think people now, feel even more under pressure where it's was. Everybody is available 24/7 through technology.
But the process that we use is we often just kind of sit around in a room and just like talk about who's hot, who's cute. What shows we love. What people are talking about.
When you get Laurence's take on culture, you're not just getting 1 person's opinion. You're getting years of her experience.
So he's because he needs special friend, are we gonna-- do we like them? Do you think the movie is gonna be big?
Despite what my father told me growing up, I do get paid to watch television.
I get to go to screenings. We go to concerts. We get, you know, advanced releases of CDS and advanced TV shows and it's my job to come and talk about everything I love.
I have this job because I had-- I guess I had the balls to try a lot of different things. When I was younger, definitely the weirdest moment I've had was mixing drinks in 11 o'clock in the morning for the editors to taste.
We had so much fun testing the Marie Claire cocktails. We came upon what I think is the perfect cocktail. So put down the shards and step away from the Cosmo, it's all about the Marie Claire.
So we're gonna do a fall cocktail first and the reason it's fall is because it's based on a Calvados, which is an apple brandy from France, from the northern part of France.
I love my colleagues. They're just amazing. I love working with them and they're so enthusiastic about, you know, what they're covering.
People want to make sure that if they're going to the movies, they'll gonna love the movie. If they buy a book, they'll gonna love the book. We are really about telling people these are the things to go to. Don't spend your time worrying with the other things. We decided to shoot 101 dresses on 101 readers of the magazine because who doesn't need to dress for the holidays.
I guess I'm excited to wear fancy clothes and nice clothes 'cause I never do this in my real life.
It's just a fun environment. A lot of pretty girls just shooting. It's fun.
