I'm a serial lipstick dater. So many lip products slide onto my desk. Some I double-tap and have all the heart eyes for. Others I ghost and leave on seen. This is #BigLipstickEnergy, an honest breakdown of how I feel about the latest lip launches. Read on for the three lipstick flings I'm keeping in rotation for now. Next week, I'll have a new roster.

These Complementary Balms
Act IV Lip Duet Tint + Balm
ESTE LAUDER nordstrom.com

You're in the thick of winter, which means your lips can't afford to go without hydration. For $50 you get not one, but two, balms, which you can layer on top of each other or wear separately as you please. The tinted shade leaves a soft touch of red and the clear balm adds shine, thanks to the emollient-packed formula. These balms, a part of the Act IV collection, were created by Danielle Lauder, the great-granddaughter of Estée Lauder.

Confession: as much as I love to layer lipsticks, I've never layered lip balms before. Can you believe it? I know, it's very unlike me. So, this was a first. I began by gliding the balm all over, which felt like a big, cozy hug for my lips. Afterwards, they felt plush and pillow-soft. Then, I swiped this wild color shade on top. I'm into the just-been-kissed, bitten tint it leaves behind. It's a barely-there hue that you can build upon.

This Interesting Neutral
Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Slay Tan
SMASHBOX nordstrom.com

I've met a lot of matte formulas I didn't love—it's a tough texture to nail. However, I've been a long-time fan of the Smashbox Always On Matte line because these products never, ever dry my lips out, move, or feather. It's a formula that truly doesn't waver when it comes to being long-wearing and comfortable. By popular demand, the brand has expanded the line with new and improved shades.

In a past life, I was a lipstick-namer. So, it makes perfect sense that the moniker "Slay Tan" captures my attention. I mean, it's so ridiculously good, right? This shade is a tawny neutral—not an ashy neutral—with a deep brown undertone, which makes it work for my dark complexion. I love that it's an easy, perfect middle ground matte shade that I can wear when I literally don't have time to think, which is all the time, to be honest.

This Savior
Milani Rose Sugar Scrub
Milani ulta.com

You religiously exfoliate your skin, but do you forget about your lips? I'd venture to say we're all guilty of neglecting our poor chapped lips. Those brisk winter winds strip the life out of 'em, and the only way to revive them is with a lip scrub. This one is made of rosehip, coconut, and argan oil, along with natural sugar crystals that polish, exfoliate, and remove all the dead skin drying your lips out.

Rose-infused skincare products make me feel like a classy lady. This scrub has a delightful scent and makes my lips feel brand new again after coming into the crib from what feels like a winter tundra. It completely sheds all signs of cracked dryness and primes my lips perfectly for lip balm. I've started to use this weekly so my lips can survive this brutal dry season.
