Sharon Stone Was Asked If She's Been Sexually Harassed, and She Gave the Most Epic Response
"Can you imagine the business I stepped into forty years ago?"

With the Time's Up movement, women throughout Hollywood have been speaking out about the sexual assault and misconduct that they've experienced throughout their lives and careers. And the latest woman to be asked whether she's experienced any impropriety in the movie business is Sharon Stone.
In an awkward interview with Lee Cowan on CBS Sunday (opens in new tab), Stone is asked if she has ever felt "uncomfortable" in Hollywood, and if she has any of her own #MeToo stories, to which she starts laughing profusely. A flummoxed interviewer probes, "You're laughing, but I don't know if that's a nervous laugh, or an 'Are you kidding me? Of course I have' laugh."
On @CBSSunday, @sharonstone was asked if she's ever faced any sort of harassment/assault while she's been in the entertainment business. This was her reaction..... pic.twitter.com/WdCXVvgxfKJanuary 14, 2018
Then, a cool, calm, and exceedingly collected Stone stops laughing, and replies:
"I've been in this business for forty years, Lee. Can you imagine the business I stepped into forty years ago? Looking like I look, from Nowhere, Pennsylvania? I didn't come here with any protection. I've seen it all."
Clearly, Stone is not messing around.
In some ways, her response is heart-wrenching, particularly as she emphasizes the fact that she entered the movie industry alone, without back-up, and she wasn't necessarily prepared for what she experienced. But her thoughts also remind us that women have been subjugated for far too long, and that the Time's Up movement is a much-needed shift.
"We're starting to acknowledge our own gifts as women and not think that we have to behave as men in order to be empowered, or powerful, or valuable" - @sharonstone on #SundayMorning pic.twitter.com/KkE5Op5iBAJanuary 14, 2018
Stone also used the interview as opportunity to discuss feminism saying:
"Women so often lose their own identity to the identity of the men that they're with. They even change the way they dress... We're starting to acknowledge our own gifts as women and not think that we have to behave as men in order to be empowered or powerful or valuable."
