During a panel at Comic-Con Saturday, actor Tom Hiddleston—there promoting his film Kong: Skull Island—took a moment to answer a question about his other new role: Taylor Swift's (possibly real, possibly music video?) boyfriend. You know, the one who kisses her at Roman colosseums, meets her parents, wears "I Heart T.S." tanks in her honor, etc.

Call the entire thing fake or a well-timed distraction—those comments don't bother Hiddleston because he knows it's real. "It comes down to being authentic," he told People. "Everything you do you have to make sure you truly believe in it and as long as you know that, it doesn't matter what anyone else says about it because the nature of being a public figure is that everyone will have an opinion about anything you do, and as long as you know why you've done something and you've committed to it with authenticity then you're okay."
