Meghan Markle may be practicing social distancing with Prince Harry and (nearly one-year-old!) baby Archie in Los Angeles, but she's not letting that stop her from continuing to work with her patronages.
This morning, Smart Works—the Duchess's patronage, which works to provide underprivileged women with interview-appropriate clothing and otherwise prepare them for the job market—shared a new video of Meghan video chatting with a client of theirs. In the clip, Meghan expresses her excitement for the client's upcoming interview, and reassures her that she'll do well.
"I think you’re going to be fantastic," the Duchess says, later adding, "I just wanted to be able to call in and tell you best of luck, and my fingers are crossed for you."
Smart Works shared the video in a Twitter thread, and also included a quote from the Duchess. "It’s been such an honour to meet and learn from so many talented women in the Smart Works network over the years, and recently to see the amazing work they’re doing to adapt their programs to the reality of this pandemic," it reads. "Their ability to continue to empower women and help them harness the confidence they need to succeed during this time is inspiring." (See the quote—and the video—below.)
The charity added that since pivoting to virtual services, they've provided "200 hours of support to our clients."
Meghan has been Smart Works's patron for over a year now, and made quite a splash last fall when she announced her intention to launch a capsule collection of workwear benefiting the charity—for every piece sold, one was donated to Smart Works.
