Kaia Gerber Styles These Anti-Ballet New Balance Sneakers Just Like Hailey Bieber

Kaia Gerber and Hailey Bieber both became New Balance sneakerheads in 2019: the former with chunky 990s, and the latter with sleek 501s. Paparazzi captured Gerber after an acting class in West Hollywood, but she would've fit in at Bieber's workout class earlier that morning. The Palm Royale actor wore all-black athleisure—a cozy black jacket zipped over matching leggings—before her New Balance 530s brightened up the color story. Following in the footsteps of Bieber's latest white sneakers, Gerber chose New Balances with snow white mesh, metallic silver curvatures, and chunky, off-white soles—all punctuated by the "N" logo embroidered on the sidewall.

The $110 530s seem to be Gerber's first New Balance sneakers since 2023, when the simpler 990 was still her signature pair. Perhaps seeing Bieber in an almost-identical make and model last summer influenced her migration back from On sneakers. Given the ballet sneaker trend's resurgence, I might've pegged Gerber for a sneakerina girl. But now, she's giving the extra-padded silhouettes of yester-summer another chance at stardom.

This year, Bieber's been so busy endorsing shoe trends like white sneakers, hiking sneakers, heeled flip-flops, and high-vamp heels, she hasn't had much time to re-wear her New Balance 530s. But they could return any day now.
The anti-slim shoes have been MIA since her June 2025 trip to New York City. Then, the Rhode founder styled the circa-1992 sneakers like Gerber: with leggings and a black designer bag. (Bieber's is the belted tote from her favorite flip-flop label, Toteme.) New Balance's 12 color combinations all but confirmed another A-lister would follow her lead someday. Who knew it'd be as devoted a sneakerhead as Gerber?
