Ah, nothing like a good 'ol celebrity friendship feud to make you grateful for the friends you have in your life (and the privacy of your group chat). From L.C. and Heidi to Katy Perry and T. Swift, ahead 50 drama-filled friendship feuds we still can't believe *actually* happened.
The infamous duo's friendship has been anything but The Simple Life after Hilton and Richie mysteriously stopped speaking in 2005. "It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends,” Hilton told People the same year. “Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.” Between rumored sex tape screenings and Richie calling Hilton "a total nightmare," the pair have moved past their epic feud after Hilton wished Richie a happy birthday on Instagram last month.
For reasons that remain a mystery, Elizabeth Taylor thought it would be a good idea to have an affair with Debbie Reynolds' husband, Eddie Fisher. For reasons that are totally obvious, Debbie Reynolds wasn't thrilled. "We were friends for years and years," Reynolds said of the feud. "But we had a lapse of time when she took Eddie to live with her because she liked him, too. She liked him well enough to take him without an invitation!"
The pop stars have been known for their on- and off-again friendship when Aguilera reportedly said Spears "acted like trash" in a 2004 interview with US Weekly. "I know Britney...she's not trailer trash, but she sure acts that way." A few months prior, Aguilera recalled Spears had been "distant." Now 12 years later, they're clearly over their feud and it's rumored the pair is in the works of making a duet together (we can only dream).
Tragically, Liam and Noel Gallagher are no longer each other's wonderwall thanks to their inability to work together—a drama-fest Noel opened up about in 2015. "I remember countless gigs where three songs in, he'd just pop his f--king headphones out and just get off," he said. "What a c--t." Meanwhile, Liam claimed that Noel was "the most overrated man in history."
So, yeah, clearly everyone's getting along real well!
In 2014, Richie admitted on an episode of Watch What Happens Live her and Lohan "haven't spoken in a while." Though it's unclear the official reason why the pair stopped being friends, we have a feeling it had something to do with Hilton and Lohan's epic feud (more on that on the next slide).
We don't know how this hasn't turned into a movie yet, but long story short Hilton made fun of Lohan in 2006 calling her a "firecrotch" and later Lohan ended up leaving her an angry voicemail, to which Paris proceeded to reportedly call her a "c*nt." In 2008, Hilton told Glamour, "Lindsay and I are fine now. I think she's really changed. I saw her a month ago and she was really sweet and seemed really happy and we're all adults now."
However, that all changed in 2013 when a nasty battle between the two ensued again after Paris' brother was arrested after getting into a fight, which was apparently orchestrated by Lohan. Everything's fine and dandy now since Lohan recently invited Hilton to her birthday celebration in Mykonos. It's casual.
The feud that started it all. And by "it all," we mean Ryan Murphy's new show. Bette and Joan had an infamously rocky relationship while filming Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? In fact, Joan Crawford (or La Belle Crawford, as Bette called her) trolled her costar by sending her a rose every day just to be annoying.
"Somebody is sending me one damn rose every day in a lousy little bud vase, and it's driving me crazy," Bette reportedly told producer William Frye. "If you're going to send roses, for God's sake, send a dozen, or more." #Iconic.
Though the ex-friends have yet to publicly talk about their feud, it's been rumored the two ended their friendship due to their disagreement about their relationship with their personal trainer whose business has "faced financial irregularities." At the same time the friends stopped being seen with each other, Paltrow told British Vogue, "I'm having a situation right now with a friend where I'm feeling pretty angry."
For years Cattrall and Parker have denied feud rumors, stating they were friends IRL. However, it turns out Cattrall was, in fact, never friends with any of her co-stars. Amid reports of Cattrall refusing to do a Sex and the City 3 movie (which is why it was killed) she admitted, "We've never been friends. We've been colleagues, and in some ways it's a very healthy place to be." (So now everything we thought we knew about SATC off-screen is a lie...BRB crying.)
Kardashian and Hilton were friends starting at an early age, but Hilton often credits herself for making Kim famous as her sidekick before the release of her sex tape. However, as Kardashian rose to fame on her own the two haven't been so close. Hilton called Kardashian's butt "gross" and Hilton even walked out of an ABC News interview in 2011 when the interviewer mentioned Kardashian. In classic Hilton-recovering-from-friendship-feuds style, she took to Instagram a few years later to show there's no more beef between the two.
Frenemies by association, clearly.
If Charmed has taught us anything, it's that the power of three will set you free. Unless your name is Shannen Doherty, in which case you'll peace out and get replaced by Rose McGowan. The '90s star famously left Charmed after three years, and Alyssa Milano spilled some tea while on WWHL, saying, "Holly and Shannen were best friends for like 10 years before the show started, so it was very much sort of like high school. I would hope that in our 30s it wouldn't be like that anymore."
Paltrow and Ryder were inseparable in the '90s...that is until Paltrow reportedly found the Shakespeare in Love script looming in Ryder's home. When asked if she stole the role from Ryder, Paltrow replied, "That’s an urban myth...I swear to God I did not, I’m raising my right hand on the Bible. I swear to God.”
Somewhat hilariously, Mary-Kate Olsen and Paris Hilton had a brief celebrity feud in the roaring aughts, when Mary-Kate's ex, Stavros Niarchos III, hopped into a relationship with the hotel heiress. Mary-Kate's thoughts on the matter? "[Paris and I] always only had nice things to say about each other," she told W Magazine. "Now I guess you can tell we're not talking."
"Obviously, I didn't hear from Lauren, but I wasn't expecting to," Montag told E! in May following the news of her pregnancy. Conrad and Montag had an infamous falling out on The Hills 10 years ago after Montag and Pratt fabricated rumors of a sex tape between Conrad and her then-boyfriend Jason Wahler. Clearly the feud was real, and so is the tension 'till this day.
Things got a tad messy between the friends when Kardashian's brother Rob admitted he cheated on his then-girlfriend Bailon in 2010. However, when Bailon publicly stated in 2014 that being stuck with the Kardashian label was "hurtful" to her career, the Kardashians came to their brother's defense.
Kim followed up to the comment by tweeting, "Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian." Khloé also responded to Bailon's comments and wrote, "Don't kick my brother while he's down."
Update: Wow. She's really going to keep this up, isn't she? During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live—to which she arrived late—Carey maintained that she still doesn't know who this J.Lo person is, despite Andy Cohen's pressing. "You know what? I'm very forgetful," Carey said. "Apparently I'm forgetful, because I don't remember the fact that it was just like, 'Hi, I'm so-and-so,' and then move on." LOL.
Original: The literal sun is no match for the decade-spanning shade Mariah Carey insists on throwing at Jennifer Lopez. It all started when Mariah was asked about J.Lo and mused "I don't know her," a classic moment that has since gone down in meme history. While Jennifer insists she and Mariah have met "many times," the elusive chanteuse was recently asked about Jenny from the Block and said "I still don't know her." Queen.
Shia LeBeouf has a lot of feelings in general, but especially about Frankie Muniz. In 2003, the star revealed that Muniz was "looking down" on him, and brought up their issues again in 2010, saying "I don't go to many parties and I don't really hang out in Frankie Muniz-type zones."
Frankie's response? "Dear Shia Labeouf. It's getting creepy the fact that you can't stop talking about me. It's been 12 years now. I don't know you. Thanks."
Debra Winger and Shirley MacClaine starred in Terms of Endearment, and just could not even with each other. Urban legend says Winger passed gas in MacLaine's face, while MacLaine apparently shouted "I deserve this" while winning an Academy Award over her nemesis.
Apparently Cybill Shepherd was very concerned about spotlight-stealing on Cybill, because she'd allegedly count Christine Baransk's lines to make sure her co-star didn't come out ahead. Unsurprisingly, Chuck Lorre described the show as an "unpleasant environment," saying "I think Cybill thought that I was steering the writing towards Christine."
Banks recalls her 14-year feud with Campbell as one of the "lowest times" of her life. "I got to Paris and it was very difficult. I did very well, very fast," Banks said. "But then the industry was saying, 'Look out Naomi Campbell, here comes Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell sit your butt down, this younger one is coming to take your place.'"
Banks also accused Campbell of bullying her, which Campbell couldn't recall when they hashed it out in the early '00s. Campbell talks about the feud on an episode of Watch What Happens Live here.
Stewart and Perry reportedly ended their friendship over Robert Pattinson, after Stewart felt "betrayed" she was still hanging out and talking with her ex. Perry responded in an interview with Elle UK stating, "I sent her a text message saying: "I know you've seen all this stuff but you know I would never disrespect you. I'm not that person...I'm just trying to be a friend to him but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of tits." We're not taking sides but...👏👏👏
The singers have been battling a feud for years (literally, since 2002) after John called Madonna's song for 007 "the worst Bond theme ever." But that was nothing compared to what he said in 2004 at England's Q Awards. "Madonna, Best Live Act? F*ck off. Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much. That's me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No." He apologized to her in 2013 after more remarks were made throughout the years, and she accepted it.
On-set drama between the two hit big off-screen surrounding the Fast and the Furious 8 film. A full timeline of their feud can be found here.
Though Rowland admits she once "checked out" from her friendship with Beyoncé, the pair are now great friends. She told Vogue Australia in 2017, "She's an incredible woman. A woman I learnt so much from. Her and Michelle and . I’m really surrounded by incredible women who take the opportunities, whatever they might be and run with them. I’m truly blessed."
