Melania Trump Is at the Center of Another High Heels Controversy

The First Lady has been criticized for wearing heels to a disaster zone once again.

Melania Trump has found herself in hot water for the second time in a month, after wearing towering heels to visit victims of Hurricane Maria. The first lady wore a pair of navy pumps, tailored trousers, and a Victoria Beckham jumper to board her flight to San Juan. Before disembarking, she changed into white jeans, a khaki jacket, a cap, and Timbaland boots.

The choice of attire has been criticized by many, especially considering Trump faced considerable backlash for her choice of footwear when visiting victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas last month.

Melania's fashion choices have been closely watched since she took office in January, with many deeming her style (including the $51,000 Dolce & Gabbana coat she wore to the G7 summit) as out of touch.

The backlash to her Hurricane Harvey attire was so severe that the White House was required to make an official statement in response. "It's sad that we have an active an ongoing natural disaster in Texas, and people are worried about her shoes," Melania's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said at the time.
