Since joining Twitter in 2010, First Lady Melania Trump has only favorited one tweet: her own from May 2012.
But as of Tuesday, a few eagle-eyed sleuths discovered that the first lady had suddenly favorited another tweet—one that blatantly threw shade at both her husband, President Donald Trump, and their marriage. As Gizmodo writer William Turton pointed out on Twitter Tuesday evening, Trump (or, more likely, someone on her social team) favorited a tweet on her @MELANIATRUMP account from Andy Ostroy featuring a viral GIF of the couple at the president's inauguration, alongside the caption, "Seems the only #Wall @realDonaldTrump's built is the one between him and @FLOTUS #Melania #Trump."
Many were quick to assume the "favorite" was fake (including Ostroy himself), but before long, others confirmed they were also seeing the same thing—providing various screenshots as proof.
The tweet remained favorited on @MELANIATRUMP's account for more than half an hour before someone eventually took it down.
At this time, it's unclear what exactly happened, and the first lady has not yet released a statement on the matter. The incident was all the more confusing given the fact that Trump has since switched over to the @FLOTUS account on Twitter, and hasn't tweeted from @MELANIATRUMP since Election Day. Even more confounding, Ostroy's original tweet tagged Trump's @FLOTUS account, not @MELANIATRUMP, so it's unclear how whoever favorited the tweet found it in the first place.
