Q: I was just wondering. My boyfriend and I have been going out for 2 years now. We have sex and sometimes, special ocassion (I'm on birth control so Im not COMPLETELY stupid) he will cum inside of me. After that I will have to go pee because I hear if you do that, the ammonia kills the chance of getting an STD. So i do that. But after I pee, the pain is unbearable and I feel as if I am going to throw up from the pain. Unless i go pee literally 60 seconds after it happens. Or when he cums on my stomach, I get a big pink splotchy rash. I look on the internet, no answers. Can you please help me determine what this is?
A: There are lot of things that you should know. First, birth control pills only protect against pregnancy. They offer NO PROTECTION against STDs. And no, urine won’t kill sexually transmitted infections - especially because a partner doesn’t need to ejaculate in order to pass one to you. Transmission could happen before sex is technically “over”. So if you are indeed nervous about contracting an STD from a partner, use condoms! They are the absolute best protection we have against STDs. As for the pain issue, I am not a medical doctor, so I think that you need to see your gynecologist to talk about what is going on with the discomfort as well as your reaction to your boyfriend’s semen. It is possible that you have some urinary tract infection, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.
