Yves Saint Laurent just passed away recently. I mean, he was a very influential designer. He definitely created a lot of iconic looks, so we decided to do a tribute to him and basically shoot some of his pieces, but also pieces that other designers had done that were inspired by him.

His impact throughout his career on the fashion industry was extraordinary. I mean, he really started so many ways that women dress.

I looked at all of his work. I-- I am very much familiar with his work, but I just wanted to get more of an idea or insight and I had to like to step away from that and just create something, which would be my own. Strong compositioning and just do something very modern.

He has just influenced and inspired every single trend basically that has happened in the last couple of years be it safari, animal prints, bows, feathers, the tuxedo. I mean, just you name it, it's amazing like how much he has done for the world of fashion.

That could be your thing.

We're looking at the clothes that were inspired by Yves Saint Laurent, but channel through other designers. So, if it's Michael Kors or Club Monaco, everyone this season has their own take on the YSL trend and we really put the trends together for you and then we put all the ways that you can wear a little bit of YSL.

We shot a lot of designer's takes on his clothes and then we superimposed quotes that he had, you know, given throughout the years about certain collections, about how women should dress, or about fashion. So, it was sort of a retrospective but not only with his own design.

What struck me was the way that he bridged masculinity and that elegance, the way that he brought bottles to components together, it's just-- it's just amazing.

It's good to invest in classic pieces or have your own classic style or your own classic look that can carry over through the seasons and that was something that YSL did. He sort of changed those a little bit every season, but it was something that you could definitely tell was his.

I've been a photographer for about 7 years now. Ever since I was 23, my mother gave me a camera and I didn't put it down.

Kevin Sinclair is a photographer we use in the studio a lot. He has a great sense of studio lighting. He is very good with models. He's good with movement on the models, and he really manages to get you to see the clothes so you know what the story is about.

One, two, three, focus. I love design. I love clothes. I've had an interest in becoming a designer as well, but the whole industry, fashion, has always been my thing.

We like working with photographers who are-- who are clear, who have a sense of vision, who have reasonably strong feelings about the clothes and about the models; and we have a great range of photographers and we're very excited to work with them all.

We've been working with Kevin for, I guess, almost a year now and he's just so easy to work with.

My main focus is on editorial. I-- I love shooting editorials, so it's-- that's my passion.

He's just a great photographer. He always comes back with beautiful shots.

Kevin has very interesting poses that he asks the models to do and I love that he always studies before he comes on set. He'll always come with different inspirations and different tiers in all old magazines, old books, old movie stills; and he always uses those to kind of inspire the model and the hair and make-up, and it's like this great big sort of collage that he makes on the table and then we take something from there and, you know, make the shoot happen.

I've-- I photographed a few celebrities, not-- not many, but definitely I would love to like getting to the-- you know, the celebrity. I would love to see how I can like transition by taking a great model and then, you know, doing what I'm doing with them and then doing that with a celebrity.

Lanvin?

I got one for Lanvin.

Yeah, me too. That's what I thought too.

That costs, you know, like Tiffany because [unknown]

Yeah. Well, if you have a passion, definitely go for it. Don't let anyone stop you. There is gonna be a lot of people that will say, "Oh, you know, it's gonna be very challenging." These things like, you know-- Of course, it is challenging, but if-- if you have a vision and you want to express yourself through photography, absolutely just go for it.

For the December issue, we have done a style lesson. We have taken 3 women who are insiders in the industry. We've basically asked them how we can update our looks for the party season.
