Season 5 of Netflix favorite, Orange is the New Black, is due for release on June 9, which isn't all that far away. But in a strange turn of events, a hacker has stolen new episodes of the show, and allegedly uploaded them to an illegal file-sharing site.

According to Variety, the hacker initially threatened Netflix with the release, but when their ransom demands weren't met, they began to leak the episodes. This sounds a lot like the sort of thing that could get you locked up in Litchfield for real.

Netflix released a statement saying that they "are aware of the situation ... and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved," which all sounds rather serious.

As Season 5 of Orange is the New Black may be illegally available online now, Netflix might decide to move up the release date of its new episodes. Either way, it's unlikely the hacker will win against the streaming giant in this scenario.
