In today's unexpected but amazing news: Sarah Jessica Parker is set to star in a new TV show based on the police-crime-thriller Busted: A Tale Of Corruption And Betrayal In The City Of Brotherly Love.
The Pulitzer Prize–winning book, written by investigative reporters Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, chronicles their efforts to uncover one of the biggest police corruption scandals in Philadelphia's history. We're talking drugs, power, abuse, and a rogue narcotics squad. It's being developed as an hour-long show with Parker as one of the two leads. Doesn't sound quite like Sex and the City, but we'll take any form of SJP we can get—and perhaps Carrie Bradshaw's journalistic skills will help her get into character.
The project will mark the television project debut of Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, alongside True Detective producers Anonymous Content. David Frankel (who has directed Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Hope Springs, and One Chance) will direct and executive produce the pilot.
