Beyoncé can do no wrong—memories of that inimitable 10+ minute performance at last weekend's Video Music Awards still linger—and her high fashion outfit choices are no exception. The singer is the cover star of Carine Roitfeld's fifth issue of CR Fashion Book, and in the photo shoot, guest creative directed by Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, Bey wears everything from voluminous floral capes to tangled blue tops perfectly.
She also shares a song, 'Bey the Light,' a unique spin on an interview where she reveals intimate life details through poetry—among them that her daughter Blue Ivy is her biggest inspiration and that she takes energy from her stage persona Sasha everywhere, including when she gets it on with Jay Z (because really, what divorce rumors?)
See an excerpt of the song below and pre-order the issue, out September 4, here.
"It's my daughter, she's my biggest muse,
There's someone, we all find out soon,
more important than ourselves to lose.
I feel a deep bond with young children—
all those photos in my dressing room—
especially those who've been stricken,
children I've met across the years—
they uplift me like pieces of moon,
and guide me, whispering in my ear.
I'm tuned to spirits, the emotions of others.
And I feel her presence all the time
Though I never met my grandmother.
I learned at a very young age,
When I need to tap some extra strength,
to put my persona, Sasha, on stage.
Though we're different as blue and red,
I'm not afraid to draw from her
in performances, rifts, even in bed."
