The history books will mark January 30, 2019 as a big day: The day McDonald's introduced bacon to its permanent menu classics. Yes, my Big Mac-loving friends, come the end of the month, McDonald's restaurants nationwide will allow you to order a "Big Mac Bacon," a "Quarter Pounder Bacon," and/or "Cheesy Bacon Fries."
A press release from the company explains the trifecta of new items (which are available for a limited time only—more on that later) are finally just giving people what they want.
"People love bacon, and they love our iconic Big Mac, fresh beef Quarter Pounder burgers and World Famous Fries, so we had to see what would happen if we combined all that tastiness," McDonald’s Manager of Culinary Innovation Chef Michael Haracz said in the statement. "As a bacon enthusiast myself, I'm proud to say that we've done right by bacon fans and I can't wait for our customers to try these Classics with delicious, thick cut Applewood smoked bacon for themselves."
As far as what these new items will specifically entail, the Big Mac Bacon is all the things a Big Mac normally is...but with three pieces of thick-cut Applewood on top. The Quarter Pounder Bacon is all the things a Quarter Pounder normally is...but with three pieces of thick-cut Applewood smoked bacon on top. And the Cheesy Bacon Fries? Well, those are all the things McDonald's famous fries normally are...but with "real cheddar cheese sauce and smoked bacon bits" on top.
Again, these new bacon-topped items will be around for an unspecified limited time, but I have faith that if we all line up outside our local McD's on January 30 and all order one-to-12 orders of Big Mac Bacons, Quarter Pounder Bacons, and Cheesy Bacon Fries each, we can push the company into keeping it around forever. Capiche?
