Last night at the 62nd Grammys Awards, Demi Lovato made her first public performance in nearly a year and a half to perform her new song, "Anyone." The song, Lovato revealed in an interview with Zane Lowe on New Music Daily for Apple Music's Beats 1 last week, was written just days before she overdosed at home in Los Angeles in July 2018.
For her return, the 27-year-old singer wore a white Christian Siriano gown that I would move mountains to have in my wardrobe. As she sang, I couldn't help but notice how amazing her hair looked and how she had accomplished the perfect wave look I've been striving for years to achieve. Thankfully, Lovato's hairstylist, Paul Norton, let us in on a couple of little secrets on how he was able to get the 'Confident' singer's hair to be so magnificent.
And since we're on the topic of beauty, I'm feeling in a giving mood, and her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic has let us in on some behind the scenes deets on how he achieved Lovato's soft and elegant look for her comeback performance. So if you're looking for some beauty inspiration, read on how to achieve Lovato's 2020 Grammy look.
Start with clean, damp hair. Apply IGK's Thirsty Girl Anti-Frizz Coconut Milk Leave-In Conditioner in sections, starting from the nape of the neck working your way up from roots to ends. Brush through with a paddle brush.
Repeat the previous steps with IGK's Beach Club Volumizing Texture Spray. Spray two inches away from the hair to add volume and texture. Apply the product from roots to ends. Tousle hair gently lifting at the root to create natural volume until 90 percent dry. Afterward, using similar sections beginning at the nape of the neck with a boar brushwork your way up. Then blow dry hair out completely.
After drying, using a one-inch flatiron, while pivoting the wrist, create gentle waves by sections starting with the back of the head and work forward. In between sections, alternate with a one-inch curling iron for an organic finish. After heat styling, dispense a couple of pumps of IGK's Crybaby Anti-Frizz Smoothing Serum in your hands and work into hands and fingers applying only from mid-shaft to ends and edges of your hair.
For additional volume at the roots, apply IGK's First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo. Finish the look with hairspray all over for hold and shine.
Her makeup artist started her look by using the YSL Touché Eclat Blur Primer in Silver to prep her skin.
Dedivanovic used the shade 1.5 Beige for under her eyes, and then set it with YSL All Hours Setting Powder in shade B30 Almond.
He then finished off the look with the same powder applied just to the sides of the nose, chin and forehead and then applied the Couture Blush in Rose Lavalliere to Demi’s checks along with the YSL Couture Highlighter in #3.
Lovato wore the shade, Legendary Gold, all over her eyelids to get them really glowing.
The 'Skyscraper' singer was wearing the shade Glazed Brown, and had finishing touches from the YSL Couture Brow Slim Pencil in Brun Ombre.
She wore this lipstick in the shade 125 for the performance.
