"The Miley Cyrus Show" used to be a recurring segment on Saturday Night Live, but let's be honest: It should definitely be an actual show. Miley herself proved it by filling in for a sick Ellen DeGeneres on her show and holding her own as a self-aware, likable comedian. (Is there nothing this woman can't do?)
Her opening monologue was on point, poking fun at her own image. "I know all of you came to see Ellen, so I'm gonna do my best to make you very happy. I'm dressed like her, I smell like her, just before I came out here I actually kissed a girl," she joked. "I'll admit I'm a little bit nervous because I've never hosted a show with my clothes on before, so this is so weird."
She then interviewed Sarah Jessica Parker about her new HBO show, Divorce, and then played a game of "5 Second Rule," though she didn't quite understand the rules at first. Cyrus noted that she had never been on the other side of an interview before, but Parker noted that she had a "preternatural gift" for hosting a talk show.
She also related to Idina Menzel about being "a servant for Disney," and got details about a sequel to Frozen and the possibility of making Elsa an LGBT character.
Sure, there were probably a few more drug references and bleeped curses than a typical show, but overall, the audience definitely left entertained. Ellen tweeted her gratitude, and got to actually watch daytime TV on a sick day like the rest of us.
