Ben Affleck was accompanied by a sober coach to last month's Oscars, according to reports, following his public admission he's completed treatment for alcohol addiction.
The actor explained that alcoholism is "something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront" in a personal post on Facebook. He added that talking publicly about his addiction is "the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Argo star took "a sober male companion" with him to February's Academy Awards, where he supported brother Casey Affleck, who won an Oscar for Best Actor.
He also reunited with costar and close friend Matt Damon to present the award for Best Original Screenplay, nearly 20 years after he and Damon won the coveted prize for Good Will Hunting.
The publication also claims that Affleck is "feeling good" following his treatment.
In his Facebook post, Affleck also thanked wife Jennifer Garner for her support, amidst rumors that the couple are no longer divorcing.
"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront," he wrote. "I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.
"I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do.
"This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."
