- Cameron Diaz gave an update on what being a mother for the first time is like.
- Cameron and her husband Benji Madden welcomed their daughter Raddix back in January.
IDK about you, but one of my favorite things about Cameron Diaz—you know, aside from the fact that she's an amazing actress—is she tends to keep her life super private. There's nothing more glamorous to me than an elusive actress you have to wonder about from time to time! But with the recent birth of her and Benji Madden's baby girl, Raddix, Cameron has been opening up (see: her touching birth announcement on Instagram), and it's really lovely to see. In fact, Cameron's now sharing what motherhood has been like for her so far, and spoiler alert: It's everything she expected and more.
On an Instagram Live with Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power yesterday, Cameron called motherhood the "best, best, best part" of her life. “I love being a mother," she said. "I’m so, so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to get to do it with Benji and we’re just having the best time. It’s so great. I’m just thrilled."
Cameron also revealed that self-isolating during the current coronavirus pandemic hasn't changed much of the "new mom experience" for her, besides not being able to have her close friends come over to hang. “I’ve kinda been living a quarantine life anyhow because I have a three-month-old, or a three-and-a-half-month old,” she said. “So my life has been completely quiet and still for the last few months. But I was able to have my friends over all the time. And now I just don’t see anybody.”
“But it’s nice, and I love a bubble,” Cameron added. “I love being in the womb of my home with my husband and cooking. But at the same time it’s crazy that you can’t go out to the world right now.”
We're certainly living in a strange time, but Cameron still feels really blessed, partially thanks to having Benji in her life. “He’s such an amazing father,” she said. "I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s daddy. He’s so incredible. He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I start dinner and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.”
Though Cameron has been more open with her fans since becoming a parent, don't expect to see Raddix on the 'gram anytime soon—Cameron specifically said she's not down to share any pictures of her baby. Womp womp.
