You Will Soon Be Able to Shop Directly from Instagram

The photo app announces plans for a 'Shop Now' button.

Instagram is finally making the jump into the word of mobile shopping. The platform announced plans to rollout new shopping features through advertising content yesterday. Further details about the in-app shopping have yet to be released, but so far users will only be available to shop sponsored content through brand advertisements with a 'Shop Now' button. The button will appear on the bottom right corner of photo posts.

While third-party apps such as LiketoKnow.it have allowed users to follow shopping links outside the app in the past, this will mark the debut of internal shopping directly on Instagram. The new function will also most likely mean that your feed will be filling up with more sponsored content and brand advertisements. For a sneak-peek of the new update, the app released screenshots of the new shopping button. Instagram has yet to announce an official launch-date for the new button as of now.
