This TV Show Is Taking a Stand Against Trump by Bleeping Out His Name
President "$@^%#"?

The United States hasn't had President Trump for even five months, so it makes sense that most of Hollywood's newest films and TV shows simply haven't had much time to comment on this political, mm, situation. (Though, there are always exceptions.) But one of the most femme-friendly shows on TV is taking a hard line with Donald Trump's political presence—by bleeping it out whenever it's said in the show.
Comedy Central's Broad City, anchored by comics Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, is spending season four dodging Trump's name by replacing it with the standard entertainment "bleep." (You know the one.)

Fans of the show may remember that both Abbi and Ilana went hard for Hillary Clinton in the show's universe, and outside of it as well. So it made sense that they prepared a fourth season filled with, well, Hillary jokes. Alas, reality makes fools of us all eventually, and Ilana shared:
There's no airtime for this orange (person). We bleep his name the whole season.
The Trump name is no stranger to these sorts of name-related slights; recall the whole kerfuffle surrounding "Drumpf" (and the browser extension that lets you automatically replace all Trump spellings with Drumpf). That said, it's unclear how meaningful it is to treat the sitting U.S. president like Voldemort in the Harry Potter universe. But as there's nothing that the president adores more than having his name in the media, perhaps bleeping it out is the perfect way to make a point.
