Selena Gomez plays a mom in her new movie, In Dubious Battle, which released its first trailer yesterday. Yup, the concept is vaguely blowing our minds too, but it makes sense once you hear the premise. Directed by and starring Gomez's Spring Breakers co-star James Franco, the film's an adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel of the same name. The book is a part of the author's Dustbowl trilogy, which also includes Of Mice And Men and The Grapes of Wrath.

Set in the Great Depression, the story follows a group of migrant workers who go on strike. Gomez plays the pregnant daughter of one of the workers, who goes into labor in the strikers' camp.

The rest of the big-name cast includes Paper Towns's Nat Wolff, The Hunger Games's Josh Hutcherson and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston.

In Dubious Battle has its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival this weekend and will play at the Toronto Film Festival next month.
