The Weeknd made sure that his tour didn't interfere with Selena Gomez's kidney transplant surgery, People reports. The singer apparently scheduled his performances around his girlfriend's medical procedure, a source told the weekly. "It was a super serious operation and all her friends were worried," the insider said.
Gomez revealed in an emotional Instagram post this morning that she underwent a kidney transplant this year as part of her Lupus treatment. Her good friend Francia Raisa donated her kidney to the actress, and it seems The Weeknd (AKA Abel Tesfaye) might have been around to show his support.
Tesfaye started the first part of his Starboy: Legend of the Fall tour in February and ended July 22. He was then on a break from performing—save one concert on August 6—until the second part of his tour started again September 6. By leaving most of his summer open, he kept himself available to be there for Gomez.
Selena didn't disclose exactly when her kidney transplant took place, but she did mention that the procedure is the reason why she was under the radar for "part of the summer."
Extra boyfriend points to Tesfaye for showing major commitment.
