The post has garnered more than 2 million views since it went live with tons of positive comments. Tracee Ellis Ross, who has her own line geared toward natural hair, commented “Yes beauty!!!!”
“On behalf of black women everywhere, well done,” one person wrote. “Your natural hair is beautiful!” another added.
She followed the post with a sweet photo of her and 17-month-old daughter Kaavia James—and yep, both were rocking their natural hair. Union was giving her a piggy-back ride, and the mother-daughter duo was all smiles. “See @kaaviajames mama’s got hair like yours!! Here’s why these posts make such a big statement: After her controversial exit from America’s Got Talent, a shocking report revealed that Union allegedly received feedback about her hairstyles as a judge—that they were “too black” for the show’s audience. She spoke up shortly afterward on Instagram.
“Unapologetically me. Be comfortable and confident with your whole ass self. It might give others the fluuuxxx but never stop being you,” she wrote in the December 2019 post. “You can shine on your own terms. And if you got something to say 🤷🏾♀️ I don’t take notes rooted in anti-blackness. I love me as I am.”
