  • In a recent Instagram post, Gabrielle Union showed off her natural hair while quarantining at home.
  • She also posted a mother-daughter picture of her and 17-month-old Kaavia James rocking natural curls.
  • Union was allegedly that told her hairstyles were “too black” during her time as a judge on America’s Got Talent.

From bobs to braids and everything in between, it’s clear that Gabrielle Union rarely has a bad hair day. She’s always switching up her looks—and her current one does not disappoint. The 47-year-old actress gave fans a peek at her natural hair in a recent Instagram post, and we’re obsessed.

In the video, the L.A’s Finest star touches her healthy curls, showing off the length. “When your natural locks appreciate the lock down. Unlocking the secret soon... 🔐 #InTheLab #QuarantineNaturalHairChronicles #FrederickDouglassRealness,” she captioned the post.

The post has garnered more than 2 million views since it went live with tons of positive comments. Tracee Ellis Ross, who has her own line geared toward natural hair, commented “Yes beauty!!!!”

“On behalf of black women everywhere, well done,” one person wrote. “Your natural hair is beautiful!” another added.

She followed the post with a sweet photo of her and 17-month-old daughter Kaavia James—and yep, both were rocking their natural hair. Union was giving her a piggy-back ride, and the mother-daughter duo was all smiles. “See @kaaviajames mama’s got hair like yours!! When I took my braids out she was like 👀🤔 Now mom and baby both rocking their natural curls ❤💜🖤#QuarantineNaturalHairChronicles,” she captioned the post.

Here’s why these posts make such a big statement: After her controversial exit from America’s Got Talent, a shocking report revealed that Union allegedly received feedback about her hairstyles as a judge—that they were “too black” for the show’s audience. She spoke up shortly afterward on Instagram.

“Unapologetically me. Be comfortable and confident with your whole ass self. It might give others the fluuuxxx but never stop being you,” she wrote in the December 2019 post. “You can shine on your own terms. And if you got something to say 🤷🏾‍♀️ I don’t take notes rooted in anti-blackness. I love me as I am.”
