Update, 10/19: We have yet to see a Balmain for H&M ad grace our TV screens, but we've officially gotten a sneak peek thanks to a new behind-the-scenes preview from Yahoo Style. The campaign video stars none other than Kendall Jenner, who leads a troop of supermodels in a vogue-style dance routine on the subway à la Michael Jackson's "Bad" music video.
"Kendall had a lot of fun," explained Olivier Rousteing in the accompanying interview. "It was a new experience for her. We had the best time. It was new for both of us. But more importantly, the campaign has to reflect the Balmain Army and for me, she is the most important. She also has an amazing soul and is so supportive. It is important for me to have my friends around me to support every project that I do. She's just amazing and inspires an entire generation. I love that she's global, and loves music, dancing, she's the Balmain girl."
The first image from the Balmain for H&M campaign has arrived and no surprise here, it's stacked with the usual suspects including Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, and Dudley O'Shaughnessy. In the ad, which was shot by Mario Sorrenti, the genetically-blessed crew rides the subway ever-so-casually in Rousteing's wallet-friendly designs.
Update, 9/17: At Wednesday night's congregation of famous people, Gigi Hadid was wearing a dress-shaped seed-bead crust you could potentially wear too, should you find a spot to pitch your tent Nov. 4.
From this view, you can really admire the even coverage of shininess and Gigi's '60s eyeliner application.
Sick, right? This, marked up by 20 percent, is going to *kill* it on eBay.
Update, 8/20: Gah!
For comparison, here is a look from Fall 2012, which has the same strong shoulders, intricate embellishment, and a hemline you do squats for.
Now you know that when I say I'll push you out of the way to get at this, I'm not even close to kidding. Good luck.
Start lining up now—this collaboration is sure to be one of H&M's biggest yet.
