Big Girl in a Skinny World: The Best Boots for Large Calves

Hello Ladies:

As many of you know, in January’s Big Girl in a Skinny World (on newsstands next month!), I’m tackling boots for bigger calves. I must admit this was no small feat. I tried on about a hundred boots for the column, of which only 5 fit. But all worthwhile things tend to require some time and effort. And then there are the instances when you luck into the exact thing you have been looking for. Case in point: This weekend while perusing my local Target, or Targét, with a very French accent like my friends love to call it, I literally stumbled over the perfect pair of riding boots.

There they were right smack in the middle of the isle: black knee high riding boots complete with elastic strips down the sides to ensure the equal opportunity wearability. I slid them on right over a pair of skinny jeans I was wearing and was tempted to wear them out of the store. After a little victory dance in the aisle, I put them back in the box and headed towards the register. At just $39.99 for the pair, I was ecstatic. Most specialty sizes tend to be overpriced and not the best quality, so these boots were a steal. If you are looking for a pair of trendy, everyday, riding boots these are the boots for you! Pick up a pair, you won't be sorry!
