As you know, Kanye West was hospitalized last week after a breakdown at his trainer's house (opens in new tab), and according to reports Kim Kardashian has been sleeping at his bedside ever since. (opens in new tab)

But, despite her spending all her time at the hospital, People (opens in new tab) reports that the 36-year-old won't take three-year-old North or 11-month-old Saint to see their dad while he's recovering.

"She is very worried about the kids being around Kanye," explains a source. Another source said Kim worries that Kanye's mental condition might affect his relationship with his children.

Apparently the 39-year-old has hardly been interacting with anyone except his wife: "the only person Kanye trusts is Kim."

The same source said the rapper doesn't have a diagnosis but has exhibited signs of paranoia. Kanye has had "big ups and big downs, but this bout seems to be much more serious. In the hospital he has been very paranoid and is under constant watch for his safety."

This time of year marks the anniversary of his mother's death, which—combined with sleep deprivation—has been said to have something to do with his breakdown. Not to mention that Kim was the victim of an armed robbery in Paris just a few months ago.

A relative of his, who asked not to be named, said: "Any time around the holidays is tough for him, he is an only child. But he was very close to his mom, so this time of year... it's really difficult.

"Then on top of it, everything that happened with Kim in Paris, the build up to it is a lot, it's a lot of pressure.

"Kanye is highly sensitive and highly protective of certain things which doesn't help. But people are so used to seeing him as a performer or as an icon, they don't see him as a normal person.

"And really he is just like we all are, broken and lost and hurt, we all are made of different fragments as human beings.

"With too much pressure it bursts and right now with everything hurting for him Kanye has burst."
