Update, 12/14: At the premiere of Joy on Sunday evening, E! News asked Bradley Cooper (opens in new tab) about the Beyoncé/A Star Is Born rumor so lovingly detailed for all to see below. So what does he do? Flatly deny everything.
"Just a rumor," Cooper said. "But with that said, I would be an honor, obviously, to work with her in any capacity."
*sniffs indignantly* *mutters unspeakable things under breath*
Original story, 12/12: It's been three years since Beyoncé sadly announced (opens in new tab) she'd no longer be starring in the Clint Eastwood-directed remake of 1937's A Star Is Born. But fortunately for us—and Beyhive members everywhere—a lot has changed since 2012: Eastwood has since bailed on the project, Bradley Cooper stepped in to save it, and best of all, Queen Bey is apparently back on board.
Here, our general excitement after hearing this news—demonstrated by Beyoncé herself:
"Beyoncé is a go," a source tells Page Six (opens in new tab) about Cooper's directorial debut. Not surprisingly, the Grammy winner joins the ranks of divas Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand—who starred in remakes of A Star Is Born in 1954 and 1976 respectively.
For the latest version of the film, which "won't be ready to go before cameras until the end of next year, or possibly January 2017," Cooper, who will play the leading character opposite Beyoncé's, is currently "out to find the rest of the cast," the site adds. (You hear that, J-Law? There's still a chance for a cameo.)
After Us Weekly (opens in new tab) pointed out that Bey's been taking acting lessons for the past year because she had a plan to "find an iconic dramatic role" and "land leading roles in movies," it looks like her dream—and ours—is finally coming true.
Because TBQH, we've waited way too long for a Dreamgirls Part II.
