Marie Claire's Market Director Goes Out On a Lim

Sunday, New York Fashion Week I admit I'm biased when it comes to Phillip Lim's 3.1 Collection-as I usually see myself in about 90 percent of everything he does! This season did not disappoint-kicking off (as it is Super Bowl Sunday) with his "Pedigree with Prudence" theme. Mad Hatters and dandies sashayed down the runway in double-breasted coats, knotted shirts, top hats, and bow ties.

A stickler for details, Lim embellished cream-colored column dresses with sweet tulip pleating topped off with organza headbands with Swarvovski crystals. The coats kept coming-one great one after another-gabardine inspector trenches, camel-colored military coats with gold buttons and a black patent cropped jacket perfect for city girls.

Two tongue-in-chic standouts: the cut-off school boy's double-breasted blazer and the red strapless silk crepe "knot" dress-a modern take on the toga fit for a Roman empress.
